One day, we were having family devotions and had a wonderful time! The story we read was from Matthew 4--Jesus in the desert being tempted by the devil. Jesus had been praying and fasting for 40 days and nights! While our family talked about Jesus overcoming Satan's temptations, we became amazed by how His spiritual strength overcame His physical weakness!
In life, things wear us down physically...whether it's the aging process, difficult circumstances, kids, career, or just plain living! The truth is all of us are one day closer toward becoming part of the ultimate statistic: 10 out of 10 people die. Sooner or later, we will physically wear out, die, and be buried...just like millions before us!
In Jesus' experience in the desert, although physically weak and worn down, He overcame the physical challenge by what He possessed spiritually! How about you? Are you prepared for the ultimate challenge...physically departing from this world? More importantly, are you sure you have been reborn spiritually in Jesus Christ (John 3:5-8)?
My friend, without Jesus, you will never overcome the power of death! Mere human beings do not possess power over the grave (Ecclesiastes 8:8), but Jesus does (I Corinthians 15:55-57)! Pastor Murdoch and his wife Laura have been married 23 years and are originally from Fresno, California (where they attended high school together). After serving 9 1/2 years in the Air Force Security Forces, Pastor Kevin went to Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida and received a Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Theology. They live in Los Lunas, New Mexico with their boys: Kyle (20), Jake (17), Nathanael (14), RJ (11), and Josiah (9).
